Today we pose 10 questions roughly based on the famous Proust Questionnaire to Cameron Lira who will appear as Olivia in William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night opening Friday, September 26, 2014. Cameron has been a part of many memorable shows at the Coaster Theatre since 2008’s Break A Leg and has delighted audiences with her beautiful voice and wonderful comedic timing.
10 QUESTIONS WITH CAMERON LIRA
1. What is your present state of mind?
Exhaustion and Jazz Hands Soup.
2. Who are your favorite playwrights?
Neck deep in Twelfth Night, I’m drawn to the monsters of language — William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, even Cole Porter — who can turn a phrase like a top.
3. Your favorite musician?
Sappily but truthfully, my husband, Juan Lira. He’s a real heart piercer.
4. Who are your favorite characters?
The funny ones, the desperate ones, the surprising ones, the ones who have been wronged, the ones who do all the wronging, the ones who at some point will lay their souls bare.
5. Who are your heroes in real life?
My loving, hilarious, talented, brave, adventure-pursuing, dream-encouraging, open-hearted, world-changing, people-connecting, weird and awesome parents.
6. What natural gift would you most like to possess?
The gift of organization. I am a great maker of lists and a greater loser of them.
7. What is your most marked characteristic?
An exuberant laugh? Is that the nice way to say that?
8. What do you most value in your friends?
A willingness to give in to joy.
9. If you could be anyone throughout history, who would you have been?
Someone in Jim Henson’s troupe. There’s a guy who was figuring out how to change the world and have a good time doing it.
10. What is your motto?
