Cindy is a regular face around the Coaster Theatre. You may see her on a daily basis manning the box office, house managing a show or tasting one of her amazing cookies pre-show or at intermission. You may also see her handiwork behind one of the many props uses on stage or in the hem or zipper of a costume. Needless to say…Cindy is a lady of many talents. This summer she brings her talents to the stage in 9 to 5: The Musical as Doralee Rhodes. Her previous on stage roles include Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors, Florinda/Granny/Sleeping Beauty in Into The Woods, and part of the ensemble of Scrooge: The Musical.
She grew up in Keavy, Kentucky and found her way to Cannon Beach after graduating with a degree in Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu. She is also a skilled pianist and got involved with the Coaster Theatre as a volunteer accompanist to the Coaster Theatre Kidz Camp. In 2013 she joined the staff of the Coaster Theatre.
1. What is your present state of mind?
I am content to be me, to be where I am at, and to be doing what I am doing.
2. Who are your favorite playwrights?
I have to be honest.
Theatre is still very new to me and while I have enjoyed many shows at the Coaster Theatre, I don’t think I have seen enough to say, oh this is my favorite playwright.
3. Your favorite musician?
When I was 12 years old, I got to go see Elton John in concert with a friend’s and his family. Although I listened to the radio, I had never really tried to play any kind of pop music on the piano. After that concert, I couldn’t get enough Elton John music. My mommy bought me every Elton John book available in the music store and I could lose myself in them for hours on end.
4. Who are your favorite characters?
The ones who make me want to be a better and kinder person.
5. Who are your heroes in real life?
My mommy is my greatest hero.
6. What natural gift would you most like to possess?
I wish I was more graceful.
7. What is your most marked characteristic?
I think it would be my hospitable nature. If I can make someone’s day a little brighter, then it makes my day brighter.
8. What do you most value in your friends?
That they accept me for just being me.
9. If you could be anyone throughout history, who would you have been?
It would be hard to single out anyone in particular. I would have wanted to be an explorer, to have seen places before they were settled.
10. What is your motto?
If you can’t do anything about it until tomorrow, don’t worry about it today.
