Priscilla is a relative newcomer to the Coaster Theatre stage and is very excited to bring Gillian Holroyd to life in our current production of Bell, Book and Candle. Originally from Eugene, Oregon, she moved to the coast 5 years ago after falling in love with the beautiful scenery, interesting locals and (especially) surfing. Last winter she sang and danced her way through Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and this fall tackles love and witchcraft in Bell, Book and Candle. When not onstage Priscilla works in hospitality and as a Labor Doula; supporting women through childbirth.
1. What is your present state of mind?
Busy with new ideas for my Labor Doula Website and my Pure Romance Business. It is refreshed. I am content.
2. Who are your favorite playwrights?
hmm….I love to read and have been to quite a few plays. But I guess I don’t know too many playwrights and all their works. I have read a lot of Shakespeare; love, love Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues, and I’m really loving John Van Druten’s style in Bell, Book, and Candle.
3. Your favorite musician?
Reba McEntire, Jack Johnson, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Lindsey sterling, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Alanis Morisette, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lisa Loeb, Eliza Doolittle, and really really, I can’t get enough of Boy and Bean. They are a local (Portland) trio that sings depression era swing. Love that sound. Music has really gotten me through tough times, or a rough day, I like many artists and many genres. I like a great voice, good story and awesome beats to dance to.
4. Who are your favorite characters?
Passionate characters, Story Tellers, the hopeless romantic, The underdog who comes of age and becomes heroic, and the odd, dark, complex, character.
5. Who are your heroes in real life?
Primatologist- Jane Goodall, Midwife- Ina May Gaskin, Stunt double and actress- Zoe Bell, and my Grandma Janis.
6. What natural gift would you most like to possess?
I don’t know. I can think of many superheroes, or supernatural gifts, but a natural gift? Like something that would just come easily to me?? Hmmm… I guess…I think that, if I work persistently and courageously at something that I really feel passionate about; I would achieve any “natural” ability or talent or goal I’d like. Therefore, I don’t wish for any natural gift. It’s already a part of me. I could tap into using any one.
7. What is your most marked characteristic?
Probably my laugh, my patience, and my ability to help someone else find resolutions to a problem.
8. What do you most value in your friends?
Their support and caring of me, and quality time together.
9. If you could be anyone throughout history, who would you have been?
Are we talking past lives or someone that I think is awesome from history? …For some reason Helen Keller comes to mind, whatever the case.
10. What is your motto?
I have a couple. “No matter what, God knows my heart” and “This above all; to thine own self be true.”
