Based on the seminal 1980 hit movie 9 to 5: The Musical is set in the late 1970’s and is the hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Pushed to the boiling point, three co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While their boss remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?
CAUTIONS: If this were a movie it would be rated PG-13. Parents and grandparents, we want you to be aware of the adult nature of the show before you decide to bring children. 9 to 5: The Musical includes mild profanity and adult themes. Marijuana also figures into the plot. Teens who watch prime-time TV won’t see much to shock them, but depending on the personality and exposure of your younger children, they may be confused. On the other hand, there are lots of big production numbers. Your own judgement is the best guide for your family.
